His story
Nicola Somma was born near Naples, in Gragnano, homeland to some of the most high quality Italian pasta. Almost like a prophecy, his career embraces all the authentic and genuine flavors of his childhood.
His passion for cooking manifested at a young age, and after attending culinary school, Nicola began experimenting with his culinary ideas in restaurants around the Sorrento Peninsula.
The desire to grow professionally led him away from his homeland in search of new challenges, just like Chef Cannavacciuolo had done before him. Their lifepaths crossed at Villa Crespi, on the shores of Lake Orta, where they worked side by side for a few years.
Chef Cannavacciuolo immediately recognized his talent and passion and offered him the position of Head Chef at his brand-new Bistrot in Turin, established in 2018. Nicola Somma earned his first Michelin star there, confirming all expectations.
In 2021, his homecoming: Nicola becomes Head Chef of the Cannavacciuolo Countryside restaurant at Laqua Countryside, in Ticciano, among the hills of Sorrento. Just a few months after opening, the first Michelin star already shines over Laqua Countryside.
